My research

My research focuses on violence, resistance and survival. I am deeply moved by the fact that, even in situations of extreme hardship and injustice, people develop unimaginable strength and, even in the midst of destitution, seek out a way of life that allows them to survive. I wish to amplify their voices through my academic work – and I believe that, at the same time, we can learn a great deal from them about the conditions of human existence and the role of culture and communal life.
