I am convinced that parents and professionals should draw on sound knowledge of child development in order to be able to understand children and young people. Only in this way can we gain an understanding of their specific challenges and needs, and adapt our expectations and requirements to their individual characteristics. After all, children of the same age are very different, and every single child has many different facets to their personality.
