My research

What I enjoy most is studying tiny black dwarf spiders, measuring just two millimetres in length, some of which have bizarre head structures and highly complex copulatory organs. They can be found wherever there is vegetation, particularly amongst plant parts, moss or litter. Thanks to their inconspicuous lifestyle, they have hardly been studied. This has enabled me to discover and describe new species in Switzerland, Europe and Africa, reconstruct their evolutionary history and reveal previously unknown structures.
