I am researching the history of the UNESCO World Heritage List, with a particular focus on the development and expansion of the concept of heritage from tangible to intangible heritage. What cultural processes led to intangible heritage gaining in significance at the turn of the millennium and being included in the UNESCO World Heritage list?
