My research
If you look closely, the vast majority of utopias are not about the future. Rather, they are about the past – for it is the past that provides the material, the scripts, the fantasies of redemption, and the powerful images of longing. That is why the Middle Ages and the Renaissance are not diminishing, but becoming ever more prevalent, in the face of industrialised modernity in the 19th and 20th centuries. These reproductions surround us, from tourism to computer games – as avatars, robots and ghosts.

The history curriculum itself is the result of different interpretations of history. Change takes a very, very long time.
