My research

My research focuses on Japanese worldviews and conceptions of humanity, ranging from mythology, religious beliefs and theories of natural philosophy to 20th-century philosophy and critical theory. In doing so, I examine whether there are parallels to familiar categories (such as myth, religion and philosophy, but also nature and society) in the works under investigation, and how these sources challenge our terms and concepts.
