My research

I research the intersection between aesthetics, culture, & democracy and facilitating conversations between academia, society & politics. Though my research focus is the US, the underlying interest for me is democracy and how we can anchor our lives in democratic values. I am fascinated by the circulation of cultural artifacts between different societal arenas (e.g. the musical Hamilton); interrogation of capitalism by the lyric; the role of coupledom, marriage, and heterosexuality for the US.
