My research

As Head of the Executive Staff at the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research (WSL), I myself hardly carry out any research anymore. However, I use my expertise and experience to support and promote curiosity-driven climate and environmental research and its implementation. My expertise lies in the fields of climate and the carbon cycle. I played a key role in the work of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and held leading positions in the Fifth (2008–2015) and Sixth (2015–2023) Assessment Reports.
