The witch-hunts in Graubünden were exceptionally intense, with over 900 trials. However, research into them has so far been inadequate. Graubünden is regularly overlooked in overviews of the witch hunts in Europe. The research project ‘Witch Hunts in Graubünden’ aims to fill this gap in our knowledge, at least in part. The project’s objectives are to compile as comprehensive a set of statistics as possible, to conduct an analysis of the political dynamics of the ruling classes, and to carry out socio-historical case studies.
